Here's the photo of the week, from the Connecticut Post (get the full story from Bushman himself):
He was greeting Sen. Lieberman at the fundraiser the Senator was holding for the Republican mayor of Milford, CT. With only two weeks to go until election day, now's our chance to support the Democrat in the race, Kerri Rowland:
More on this race below the fold...
Watching Kerri speak, watching the sense of civic pride and obligation in which she has rooted her entire candidacy, it is more and more obvious why Lieberman stuck his nose in this race by raising money for the Republican Richetelli past this weekend.
It should come as a surprise to no one that Joe would endorse an entrenched Republican mayor vs. a genuine, reform-minded local Democrat. The same elitist defend-the-good-ol'-boys attitude (how dare anyone participate in democracy! especially a Democrat!) informed his entire campaign last year, and seems to be behind all of his petty, vindictive political forays these days. He's a sad, ossified figure with nothing left to do but cling to other ossified figures in the hopes of maintaining any shred of his remaining influence by preventing desperately needed new blood from coming into the system.
Thankfully, Democrats have a great candidate in Kerri. If Lieberman's going after her, you know she must be doing something right. Rich Smith, Milford's DTC Chair, put it pretty plainly in the CT Post article linked above:
But local Democratic Party Chairman Richard Smith said he was surprised that Richetelli would even accept the endorsement of Lieberman, "who is not regarded as a Democrat but as someone aligned with the Dick Cheney wing of the Republican Party."
There's only a couple of weeks to go until the election. Let's get Kerri's back:
Or, if you're in CT, volunteer to help Kerri on the ground here.
